Easy Street
Successful Reseller Secret # 2
Once you get
to a certain point, and you are well-known in the community, your marketing is no
longer necessary. You can simply ride the wave of a good reputation and
depend upon word of mouth referrals for a full pipeline.
-
I was on easy street for 5 years when I
was a reseller – and I got
there by hosting a monthly consultants users group in Atlanta at the
GSCPA offices for a cost of about $100 per month. We had 300
members, with about 40 to 60 attendees per month.
-
Tony Peterson of Dynamic Business
Solutions - got there by providing quotes about the computer
business to local television and newspaper personnel, thus becoming
an expert. Tony admits that this may be more successful in a smaller
town. All of their business comes from television exposure.
-
Sue Bennett of Bennett Porter got there
by working closely with local area CPA firms and providing good
reliable service. Now the business pours in with no marketing
effort.
-
Taylor Macdonald got there by
advertising in the local CPA newsletter. Once his company became
known among CPA firms, the word of mouth referrals kept coming in
and he became the top US reseller of MAS 90 and top 10 reseller of
Great Plains – and stayed there for years. He sold his firm after 8
years or so, and now works for Best Software teaching MAS 90
resellers how to duplicate this model. He implemented the company’s
reseller boot camps.
